Hot July

Still not 100% after virus contracted in UK so not walking daily and doing just enough work to get by. We enjoyed a traditional British Sunday Lunch at Maria's Tea Rooms in Souni on July 8th - a delayed anniversary present from our friend Ray Horrell. Met lots of clients and friends there, who seem to be regulars for this excellent buffet.
Although our new staircase is in use by pool, Deejay, the oldest of ouir 2 cats is still not brave enough to venture onto it, so we're trying to train him as we go to UK on 25th and it'll make life difficult for Bill & Esther, our neighbours who'll look afdter cats.
July 10th saw my 64th birthday (althiough 2 couples sent me 65th cards) and I celebrated by visiting a Podiatrist in Limassol, who was very professional and is making me some new orthotic insoles for my walking shoes. €220 including consultation, hence no big party this year. Jen & I spent a couple of hours on nearby Kourion Beach  - swimming in the warm sea, opening cards and having a Keo.
The heatwave has not helped the big job of painting the new outside staircasre and veranda railings. As they're metal, the paint is drying on the brush, and I've been limited to 6am-8am and 6pm-8pm shifts, before the sun takes away the shade. After first shift on Sunday 22nd we enjoyed a relaxing day at Atlantica Bay, before meeting our Cyprus famly in Zygi in the evening.
We flew from LCA to Leeds-Bradford on 26th, and were met by our friends Malcolm & May Brooke, who hosted us for 3 days until we went to our adopted base in Barnsley and stayed with Ken & Shirley Pickering. With beer as low as £1.75 per pint, it was a wrench to leave the area, but on 31st we headed to Durham to visit my sister Dorothy and husband Jim.
Last minute packing and off to LCA on 25th. Today wll be hottest day of year in UK - let's hope it lasts!
