What we thought to be food poisoning turned out to be an unspecified virus that took more than 2 weeks to clear. This meant we were lacking in energy and did the minimum tasks - getting lots of extra rest in the shade on the veranda. On 28th June we ventured out to Kourion Beach and risked a meze to celebrate our 37th Weddihg Anniversary. For 5 days of past week I have been labouring - working with a friend on ripping out our pool staircase and veranda ceiling, then doing tiling. Not the best diet to lose weight, but 2 kilos lighter now. New staircase goes in Monday, so after painting the Wrought Iron we'll postpone rest of repairs until September. Looking at freak weather conditions in UK we may have been lucky to escape with just two weeks of rain during our May/June visit. Let's hope it improves from 25th July for our last UK trip of the year.
On Saturday 30th June we walked with our club near Aphrodites Rock on an oppressive scorching day - even the breeze was hot. Some suffered from the heat and I drank well over 2 litres of water and rehydration fluid in less than 90 minutes. Fish & Chips lunch at Mandria was welcome afterwards.
